How do I know if I need planning permission?

Planning permission is usually not required for garage conversions, as it falls under Permitted Development Guidelines. However, there are exceptions if your property is located within a Conservation Area or is a Listed Building. In these cases, planning permission or listed building consents are required before construction begins. Our team is able to secure these for an added fee. In all cases, the works are subject to Building Warrant Consent, which requires to be obtained from the Local Authority. This is to demonstrate compliance with the Building Regulations (Scotland) 2004 Act.
